Grayhill specializes in human interface optical encoders that provide excellent tactile feedback to the user. The greatest advantage of optical encoders is their non-contact switching technology which results in an exceptionally high operational life.

Although the end-product may vary, typical applications measure discrete digital position or rotational angle. Output options include absolute or quadrature 2-bit binary code.

Custom shaft and threaded bushing sizes are available. To increase the functions in one control, Grayhill offers optical encoders with concentric shafts, joysticks and pushbuttons integrated into compact devices.

Grayhill mechanical encoders combine the feel of our rotary switches with a digital output. They provide an economical way of obtaining Octal, Binary Coded Decimal, Hexadecimal and Gray code output from a rotary switch. Standard products include offerings with concentric shafts, isolated positions and adjustable stops.

Grayhill is the world leader in DIP switch technology. Our large selection includes surface mount, through-hole, rotary, standard and half pitch, and multiple actuator designs. Consistent high contact pressure is achieved with a spring and ball contact system on select series.
